Privacy Policy

This policy describes how DigiKalo collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use our app and website.

Last updated: [Month Day, Year]

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to the DigiKalo mobile application, the website at www.digikalo.com, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). “DigiKalo,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Services.

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before collecting or using certain information.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: email address, authentication identifiers, profile name, preferred language, and sign-in method.
  • Profile and goal information: age or date of birth, sex or gender selection, height, current and target weight, activity level, dietary preferences, and nutrition goals.
  • Food photos: images you take or choose for food recognition, together with image metadata available to the app. We do not require precise location metadata for food recognition.
  • Diet and nutrition records: meals, foods, serving sizes, calories, macronutrients, meal times, nutrition scores, streaks, water or activity entries, and corrections you make to recognition results.
  • Weight and progress records: weight entries, goal progress, trends, and related notes.
  • AI coach content: messages, prompts, responses, and relevant logged nutrition information used to personalize the conversation.
  • Support information: messages, feedback, attachments, and details you provide when contacting us.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, IP address, network status, and diagnostic identifiers.
  • Usage and diagnostics: feature interactions, session events, crash reports, performance logs, and error information.
  • Subscription information: product purchased, entitlement status, transaction status, renewal or expiration information, and a platform transaction identifier. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple or Google.

If you enable optional integrations such as Apple Health, we will request separate permission and explain the specific data types before access. You can revoke system permissions in your device settings.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide food recognition, nutrition estimates, meal logging, goal tracking, daily scores, streaks, and AI coach features.
  • Create and maintain your account, sync your records, and support guest-to-account conversion.
  • Personalize nutrition targets and recommendations based on the information you choose to provide.
  • Process and validate subscriptions, restore purchases, and manage Pro entitlements.
  • Respond to support requests, deletion requests, and feedback.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and improve reliability and recognition quality.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, and platform requirements.

Health information notice. DigiKalo provides general wellness and nutrition information. It does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment. Do not use the Services for emergency or clinical decision-making.

4. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose limited information to service providers that process data on our behalf and under contractual restrictions, including:

  • Food recognition and nutrition providers to analyze submitted meal images and enrich nutrition estimates.
  • Cloud hosting and storage providers to operate databases, queues, backups, and image storage.
  • Subscription providers and app stores such as RevenueCat, Apple, and Google to process purchases and confirm entitlements.
  • Analytics, crash, and security providers such as Firebase or Sentry to measure use, detect faults, and protect the Services.
  • AI service providers where needed to generate coach responses. We limit the information sent to what is reasonably necessary for the requested feature.

We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect rights, safety, and security; in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets; or with your direction or consent.

Some providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

5. Data storage, security, and retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, protected cloud storage, monitoring, and encrypted local storage where supported. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain account and nutrition information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. Food images may be retained for the period needed to complete recognition, sync records, resolve disputes, improve the feature where you have permitted such use, or meet legal obligations. Diagnostic and transaction records may be retained for a limited period based on security, tax, accounting, or platform requirements.

After a verified deletion request, we aim to remove or de-identify account data from active systems within 30 days. Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 additional days and will be deleted through the normal backup lifecycle. We may retain limited records longer where required by law, to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator. You may also:

  • Update profile information and app permissions through the app or device settings.
  • Request an export of supported account and nutrition data from DigiKalo settings.
  • Request deletion in the app or through our public Delete Account page, without reinstalling or signing in to the app.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, subject to verification of their authority.

7. Children’s privacy

DigiKalo is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age without valid parental authorization. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services, providers, or laws change. We will post the revised policy here, update the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice in the app when a change is material or consent is required.
